PASTORAL COUNCIL
The role of a Pastoral Council is to assist in fostering pastoral activity; that
is, to investigate and consider matters relating to the parish and to formulate
practical conclusions as recommendations to the pastor. Membership consists of
four elected members and one appointed member at large to enter into pastoral
planning with the pastor.
FINANCE COMMITTEE
The Finance Committee is an advisory body appointed by the pastor to assist him
in the financial aspects of the parish. There are five members who serve for a three
year term. Emphasis for membership is on financial, legal or managerial experience.
LITURGY COMMITTEE:
The purpose of the Liturgy Committee is to oversee the liturgy and to make recommendations
to the pastor concerning the interior and exterior of the church building.
OUTREACH:
The Outreach Food Program at Our Lady of Tahoe Catholic Church on Elks Point Road,
Zephyr Cove, Nev., began in 1991, when church members saw the need to assist 10
local Nevada families with boxes of food once a month.
By 1993 the food program had grown to 30 families. The program now serves 60 local
families in Nevada and California – a total of 350 people including 200
adults and 150 children.
The program consists of two stages: boxing and distributing the food. The 40 volunteers
have a choice to help each month in either of these stages. Friday before the
third Saturday of each month the food boxes are assembled by Outreach Food Program
volunteers. The food consists of meat, cheese, tortillas, eggs, fresh produce,
canned goods, pasta and cereal, which have been purchased from Bonanza Produce,
Northern Nevada Food Bank and local markets. Also included are food products collected
at each of the church Masses. This constitutes a balanced diet.
On the third Saturday of each month food boxes are given out at the Our Lady of
Tahoe parish hall. Families come to the hall to pick up their food.
The Outreach Program also assists with Education – free books are distributed
to Outreach children two times a year; Medical – insurance information is
given to families; Dental – toothbrushes and toothpaste are given out two
time a year; Recreation – Outreach subsidizes membership for children at
the Kayle Community Center; Christmas – Outreach places a Sharing Tree in
the sanctuary for parishioners and visitors to donate presents for Outreach children;
Household items – furniture, clothing, towels, sheets and blankets are collected
for families and distributed as needed.
MEN’S FELLOWSHIP
The Men’s Fellowship consists of men of the parish who meet monthly in a
social atmosphere for a dinner and meeting. The men annually host a St. Patrick’s
Day dinner and a Columbus Day dinner, and perform many small jobs for the church.
This is a great way to meet other Catholic men and to become involved in the good
of the parish.
WOMEN’S GUILD
The Women’s Guild consists of a group of ladies who wish to provide various
services to the church as well as have an opportunity to meet each other on a
social basis six times a year. The ladies provide assistance for the Christmas
Dinner, the altar linens, and raising money through pine cone crafts and the boutique.
Come join us and help your spiritual life grow.
